Shetland Reels: Spootiskerry / Willafjord / Sleep Soond Ida Mornin’

Shetland is a group of islands that is part of Scotland, with a Celtic and Norse cultural heritage. This exuberant set of tunes pulls together three of the most popular Shetland reels.
In Irish music traditions, tunes are typically played in sets like this one. Use the play-along tracks on this page to hear what the set sounds like, and to practice playing the tunes in a set. To learn tunes, follow the links below to each tune’s TrailJams page.
Memory tip: If you are playing this set on a fiddle, mandolin, or tenor banjo with standard GDAE tuning, then the starting note of each of these tunes is on an open string. Spootiskerry starts with a pickup note on the open D string. Then you move up one string to start Willafjord on the open A string. Then move up one more string to start Sleep Soond Ida Mornin’ on the open E string.
